Nainital: The lake district of Uttranhcal. The most
prominent of the lakes is Naini lake ringed by hills. Nearly
45 kms from Satkhol.
Jageshwar: Located close
to Satkhol is a must-visit if you want a feel of temples in
the Kumaon region.
Mukteshwar: This beautiful
place is 2300 mts in altitude and 14 kms from Satkhol. The
town is a secluded retreat blessed with pleasant weather and
heart-stopping vistas of the Himalayas. The town of Mukteshwar
is associated with a legend of Shiva who gifted immortality
or Mukti to a demon that he slew.
Ramgarh: (26 km away),
the heart of the orchard belt. In March-April, when the blossoms
are out, the mountainsides are covered in pink and white blossoms.
Bhimtal: Bhimtal is on
the way to Satkhol, is one of the largest lakes in Nainital
district named after Bhima, the Mahabharat character. Near
the lake, is Bhimkeshwar temple dedicated to Bhim. There
is also the Godhakhal Temple 3 km from Bhimtal.
Sattal: Literally meaning
seven lakes is a group of small lakes nested together, about
23 kms from Nainital at an altitude of (1370 MT)
Naukuchiatal: or the 'nine
cornered lake' is 4km further down Bhimtal. The lake is situated
at an altitude of 1200 m. Naukuchiatal has a folkore associated
with it that whoever can see all the nine corners of the lake
at one go will attain Nirvana.
Almora: Almora, is situated
on a hillock which is shaped like a horse shoe and is surrounded
by dense forests of fur and pine trees. Nearly 25 kms from
Satkhol.
Kausani: Standing 1890 mts.
above the sea level, Kausani is nature's own reserve.
Pithoragarh: Pithoragarh
is in the heart of adventure country. The valley is flanked
by four hills - Chandak, Dhwaj, Thal Kedar and Kundar - and
is dramatic in its beauty.
Ranikhet: Natural beauty
is intermingled with a flavor of history as Ranikhet developed
